Our Story
Founded by Dave Woolmer, a former medical negligence Solicitor with over 10 years in legal practice, Green Heart brings a different perspective to garden care. Dave spent 7.5 years as a qualified Solicitor, representing people through their most difficult moments - loss of loved ones, life-changing injuries, delayed diagnoses. That experience taught him the profound importance of reliability, integrity, and genuinely putting people first. He brought those principles with him when he transitioned to Horticulture in 2022, and they remain at the heart of everything we do.

Many local gardening services struggle to attract skilled professionals because they offer minimal wages. We take the opposite approach - we invest in fair pay to build a team of expert professionals who are committed to delivering exceptional work. This costs us more, but it ensures every client receives the expertise and consistency they deserve.
We approach every visit with meticulous attention to detail and a deep understanding of horticultural best practice. We're transparent about costs, honest about challenges, and committed to putting things right if anything goes wrong. Your garden is cared for as if it were our own.
Continuous Learning and Development
We're committed to staying at the forefront of horticultural practice. Our team participates in monthly CPD (Continuing Professional Development) sessions where we share best practices and learn from one another's expertise. We actively seek out new techniques and opportunities to expand our knowledge.
One example of this commitment is our ongoing work at Trentham Gardens, one of the UK's leading heritage gardens. In October 2025, we spent two weeks working alongside Trentham's permanent garden team, leading the planting of the first phase of the Tom Stuart-Smith designed Italian Garden replanting. During those ten days, we also planted over 20,000 spring bulbs and assisted with planting the 'Otters' beds designed by Professor Nigel Dunnett. We're looking forward to playing a part in the second phase in September and October 2026.
This kind of professional development ensures that every client benefits from the latest thinking in horticultural practice and planting development.
Building Excellence Together
Green Heart is built on a team of five highly-skilled Horticulturists and our Head of Customer Care, Eve, each bringing their own expertise and commitment to the work. Our Horticulturists specialise in different areas - from arboriculture to ornamental horticulture to edible gardening - and we leverage that diversity through our monthly CPD sessions and collaborative approach.
